Using A Chain Link Fence To Secure Your Business

Posted on: 11 February 2020

Installing a chain link fence around the perimeter of your business can keep it safe by discouraging and preventing unauthorized and unwanted access to the property. Unfortunately, some businesses may not give this addition to their property the type of attention and consideration that it requires.

Make The Fence Difficult To Climb Over

The height of the fence is one of the most impactful choices that you will make with installing this on your property. Generally, a fence that is higher will be more difficult for individuals to climb over. However, increasing the height of the fence is not the only way that you can make it harder for individuals to scale. There are accessories that can be placed along the top of the fence that will be able to discourage or completely prevent people from being able to do this. For example, there are spikes, electric wire, and even razor wire that can be positioned along the top of the fence to stop people from attempting to circumvent it.

Place Security Cameras Along The Perimeter

Being able to monitor the fence can be another step for improving the security of the property. In particular, you should look at installing security cameras along the perimeter of the fence so that they can provide overlapping coverage. This will ensure that you will have evidence of vandalism or successful breaches of the fence. In addition to assisting with prosecuting the perpetrators, this can also make it possible to address the security problem that allowed them to get through the fence. For example, having a dumpster that is too close to the fence may allow them to climb over it, or a tree that has branches hanging over the fence may allow them to gain access to the property in this way. Unfortunately, businesses that lack this type of monitoring may never be able to determine exactly how the individual gained access to the property.

Avoid Blind Spots With Chain Link Fencing

While a fence can make it harder for unwanted individuals to access your property, you may be concerned about the risk of creating blind spots on the property that could pose a safety risk. Chain link fencing will avoid this problem, as it will allow you to still see through the fence while stopping individuals from being able to hide behind solid wood, masonry, or vinyl. For businesses that need to be easily accessible to customers, a chain link fence may also be more efficient, as it will allow individuals to easily see the business's storefront through it.
